With daffodils in full flower we are reminded that spring has sprung, despite recent snow, frost and cold northerly winds!
At Long Sutton we have come out of relatively cold and wet winter compared to medium term averages. In the second week of January we had a 13 year coldest day, with temperatures dipping to -8C on 8th January, having been at -4C for quite a few days before that. Winter (Dec-Feb) rainfall at 193mm (7.6”) has only been slightly above the 10 year average of 172mm (6.8”), but with the very wet November (117mm), then it has felt wetter. Despite all this you have still been taking your lovely dogs out and bookings remain very similar to last year with 94% winter occupancy. Thank you all for your custom and loyalty; we will continue to work hard to provide a clean, fun and safe place for you and your dogs to enjoy.

Thank you all for your excellent photos you share on Facebook and Instagram, we do enjoy seeing photos of your dogs having fun or sitting very smartly! We now have over 850 followers on Facebook and nearly 250 followers on Instagram, so we will continue to post a few updates to show you what we are up to. We would of course love to see even more of your posts by tagging us @fenlanddogpark.
The mighty Kubota mower and the strimmer had their first outings this month, giving the field a bit of a trim and tidy, but with the cooler weather then the grass has not grown so much. By keeping the grass short we hope to help customers to be able to pick after the dogs to keep the dog park clean. Thank you for your support in this, and we will continue to refill the poo bags dispensers, remind customers with emails and signs, and do our own regular site checks.

Please remember that this weekend the clocks ‘spring forward’ one hour, so we lose an hour in bed. The plus side to the clock change is that your dogs can spend an extra hour with you, and we are able to open the dog park later into the evening, with daylength increasing! From Sunday 29th March the 6-7pm booking slot will be available, and then in a couple more weeks’ time we hope to have the 7-8pm booking slot available. We will update on this nearer the time.
Finally, with the bank holidays just around the corner we wish you and your dogs a Happy Easter, and a big thank you for supporting and visiting Fenland Dog Park.
